Excerpt from When Angels Fall

Yes, pain after death is very real. Suspended in a state between life and death, your soul remains attached to a translucent thinner layer of mucous and skin. Filled with nerves and pain receptors, the unbearable torment inflicted by the keepers roared through the body a thousand times more than when you were alive. No longer able to bleed, the rotting process quickens as gashes open up your decaying corpse to the disease and filth of the dungeon.
Cursed to live as a sort of half-breed, the demon peered over his shoulder. His latest victim, Roger Fiedler, was a limp heap of slashed and decaying flesh. The man, an attorney and unforgiving womanizer, arrived via gunshot. His life reeked of a man who used any means necessary to harm and berate mankind. Roger’s time ended and the crow called to the sinner’s new master. For two months, the fallen one slashed and nipped at the rotted flesh as the man screamed in agony and begged for forgiveness. Margonne did not care, as his ears lay deaf to man’s cries. Even his special whip offered no solace. In his anger and frustration, he finished off the meat and sent the soul onward.
Pondering his tedious existence, the demon breathed a heavy sigh. A fresh soul would arrive soon and his chamber of pain would come alive again. The raven, mail carrier of hell, squawked his landing on a wrought iron perch. The tormentor, aware there was fresh meat, gazed into the bird’s cold, black eyes studying the victim’s soul. A young male seated at a large oak desk was in the throes of committing suicide. Too much money, power, and women proved detrimental and now the darkened soul of the young CEO begged for relief. David Thornbrook, wealthy, spoiled, and silver-spooned seemed the answer to the demon’s relief. Hmm embezzlement, bankruptcy, and loss of financial status, this may be worth looking into. Margonne teleported forth and found David, a silver plated semi-automatic handgun in his mouth. Shocked at the appearance of the dark figure before him, the yuppie pointed the gun and fired off one round. The bullets penetrate and exit the being and scorch a nearby vase and wall.
“Now, is that any way to treat your master?” Margonne removed the weapon from his quivering hand. “My, my you are a shivering, limped dick son of a bitch aren’t you? This is gonna be too easy.”
David managed a sentence, tears streaming down his face. “Who are you? Am I dead, did I pull the trigger?”
Margonne laughed an evil chuckle and replied. “No you didn’t, but I did.” With a loud crackle, the monstrous instrument exploded into the night igniting a hole in young David’s skull. The demon licked the crimson liquid from the wound and examined his handiwork. “What a pissant, see you in a month or two. I’m taking a vacation.” The specter possessed the body of the dead man, healing the gaping hole, and taking on his very countenance. I should be able to get tons of pussy with this body, not a bad looking kid.
The following morning David Thornbrook marched into Thornbrook, Hall, and Caine just like any other day. The shocked looks on the faces of staff and colleagues were plentiful. Speaking casually he strolled to his office and took a seat. Amanda, his secretary, was quick to appear with the usual, a notepad, and his morning coffee.
“Sir, there is a board meeting to appoint a new CEO. Am I to submit your resignation?” Amanda was baffled at David’s composure.
“No, Amanda.” His smile sly and straight lined. “What you can do is go to your fucking desk and wait for me to call you. I have a few words for the board and will remain in charge like always.”
From dumbfounded to dismayed, Amanda was quick and clumsy as she exited. David watched as the panicked woman stumbled through the door, no idea what was happening. I feel better already. Soon, the next in a line of ass sniffers would visit his domain. Charles Tipton, a seasoned, disingenuous employee, had stayed with the company many years. He rode coat tails most of the way, relying on the hard work and knowledge of others as he reaped their successes. The sycophant kept close especially during the good times. David knew the man exhibited a tendency to waiver when the cards were not in his favor. Well, would you look at this shit here?
“Hey man, what the hell you doing here? I thought you were going postal yesterday when we talked but you're here sharp and ready. What’s up?” Charles huffs a half chuckle. He thought the incident was a joke. Soon the realization sets in and a blank stare crossed the ass kisser’s face.
“Charles since you like to relish in my accomplishments when it seems fit, I want you to take that ass sniffing nose of yours and find the two million that went missing. Find the son of bitches who took it and their whereabouts. If you can’t do this, pack your fucking desk immediately.” David flashed a cold stare to the unsuspecting brownnoser.
Charles thought it a joke and began a stream of nervous laughter. David did not give. His eyes still and dark expressed a different more sinister emotion. Charles stood legs rubbery and weak, he began stuttering, and sputtering, like a bad engine.
“David, you know I don’t have that information. What the fuck?” Charles tried to find an ounce of courage. However, David nipped his attempt at uprising and devoured it whole. “Exactly, how can you have my back, if you don’t know what the fuck is going on? Pack your damn desk and don’t worry, others will follow you.”

The Reviews Are In for When Angels Fall!!!!

This sexually charged thriller has taken readers by surprise:

Breathtaking, Scary and a Wild Fast Ride
I was given this book to read in return for my honest review
The Author takes you on a wild adventure with a Fallen Angel Murders, scams, love and wild sex not for the faint hearted. I loved this book in every way and was shocked at the same time. I turned page after page could not put it down. I had to see where it was going and if love ever worked even for a fallen angle. I promise this story will not leave you unhappy only shocked. Shocked as to the attraction of a fallen angel to a beautiful woman or is she mere woman? Read the book I promise it will not disappoint
When Angles Fall
Turning to re-enter the main room, a faint chuckle filled the air. Turning to find the origin of the laugh, the panicked man
searched, but saw nothing. In the midst of anxiety and panic, James’ gut churned and heart pounded as he tried to make sense of the events. Feeling a presence in the room, the air grew cold and he could see his breath in every puff. It was nothing that he had ever felt and something that scared him shitless.

Shawnee rated it 5 of 5 stars
David Thornbrook is a man whose life has fallen apart. He is the CEO of a company that has recently been victim to an embezzlement scheme by two of its employees. The resulting scandal threatens to cost him both his job and his reputation. His parents won’t help him and the media is harassing him. Embarrassed and soon to be broke, he considers taking his life. Enter Margonne, a demon who enjoys tormenting humans. While looking for his next prey, he comes upon David and sees in him an opportunity to create havoc in the human world.

It is important to note that this is a novella, rather than a full novel. But it reads as if the author is considering continuing it into other stories. The main character is the anti-hero who rapes, tortures and murders his way through this dark story. The story is fast paced and entertaining. It’s easy to rally for the people trying to get away from this demon, or rid the world of him. If you’re looking for a quick read, I can recommend this one.

"When Angels Fall" is a book that I wasn’t quite prepared for, but kept me flipping pages until I was finished. Filled with demonic possessions, murder, scandals, and hard sex, it’s a book not for the faint hearted. Redd’s use of detail makes the particular scenes just as gruesome as you can imagine.

First, we’re introduced to David Thornbrook, the CEO and rich playboy, who’s faced with an embezzlement scandal that destroys his family name and the three generation-ran company of Thornebrook, Hall & Caine.

Next, we meet the fallen one, Margonne, a demonic angel forced with guarding hell’s gates as his punishment. After years of torturing those that enter hell’s domain, the ripple of a potential suicide is comes to him—David’s suicide—and Margonne uses it to his advantage. When the suicide doesn’t go through, Margonne shoots a bullet into David’s head and takes possession over his body. With the thoughts and memories of David, combined with his demonic angel powers, Margonne takes over David’s life and brings the company back around with harsh threats and brutality to all that stand in his way.

From there, the story is ripe with twists and turns, murder, sex, and occult rituals. In all, it’s a short novel (70 pages) that will have you cringing and your eyes bugging out in just the right places. Again, this is not for the readers who are faint of heart or tend to shy away from gruesome and sexually charged literature.

Evil has a new face in “When Angels Fall” by Lachelle Redd with a storyline was dark and full of twists.

Twas the Night Before Christmas: A Grown Up Tale

Twas the night before Christmas and damn I am glad

The stress from the holiday has about ended me and their dad

Buy this toy buy that, I couldn't care less

Cause Christmas has turned into a hot damn mess

The electronics, the games, the controllers and such

Not a board game in sight when did life get so fucked

And while I await my honey with directions

I say to myself no more self assembly perfections

When back from the room I hear such a sigh

We have only two hours and this thing's written in Thai

The barbie house, the tents, the playhouse a joy

All of this shit for the love of girl and boy

The night drags on as our frustrations grow

The boxes are wrapped but the assembly is slow

We've argued and tightened and followed the plan

Hope this crap stays together there is no B plan

When finally the last screw is in place and attached

We're finally done and Christmas is a wrap

Our wine glasses are clinked our cheeks are quite merry

We survived another year we say 10 hail Marys

Now bed time, a movie, a snack and you bet

That somewhere in there we have got to have sex

To the bedroom we run, to the bedroom we fall

Now naked, we're naked, naked for all

A good sound sleep and a few hours away

The morning would be waking to a Merry Christmas Day

A day filled with joy as girls and boys clamber

To open up their gifts in new Christmas pajamas

And then in a twinkling I heard from the bed

Momma you are naked and out of your head

My eyes opened wide as my daughter there stood

Eyes and mouth wide open while I lay in the nude

I rush to my senses and grab my nightgown

Rustle my hubby awake with his nakedness abound

We rush and we scurry to come up with ideas

That Santa took our clothes as extra cover for the reindeer

Their eyes how they twinkled

Their laughs were so merry

They watched and poked fun

That mom and dad were so hairy

The coffee was hot and the cream was just right

As we watched children scuffle and bustle with delight

They had not an inkling, they had not a clue

Of what the naked mom and dad had to go through

My hubby and I had pulled off another year

We lay a wayed, we stole, we skipped a few meals

For nothing was going to spoil the kid's day

We were thankful for that naked Christmas Day charade

And as we settled ourselves and the kids began to yawn

As each Christmas toy had been played from that dawn

The evening was quiet, the day gone to rest

Our Christmas charade had been the very best

So as I end this tale to all the moms and dads

Merry Christmas to all and don't forget to cover your do dads

The Cauldron Presents: Non Friction by Morgan Parker

Synopsis:
Morgan Parker’s first novel, Non Friction, tells the story of a man whose wife just walked out on him. Faced with an empty house and emotional turmoil, he turns to writing a novella, which introduces him to the fast and furious lifestyle of indie literature stardom… and Emma, a woman who comes on a little strong but turns out to be the one sliver of sunshine in his otherwise dark and devastating life.

Now that he has enjoyed a bit of success and attention, his wife (Jennifer) comes back and suddenly decides that they should pursue marriage counseling. Eager to win her back, the main character agrees to anything and the counselor asks them to create something beautiful for each other. Our main character decides on Our Story, a love story that will not only win his wife back, but can also double as his next novel.

Over the course of writing Our Story, the main character realizes that winning Jennifer back might not be the smartest thing for his heart. In fact, he starts to appreciate the true meaning of the word love, which he finds in Emma.

Excerpt:

We stared at each other for a bit and the more I looked at her, the more I wanted to hate her like I hated Jennifer. But I couldn’t. Emma was everything my wife wasn’t. She had not only boosted my ego with those panties she sent me, but she always said the sweetest things when I needed it the most. Plus her boobs were super big in real-life and although that counted for a lot, there was just so much more to Emma. I mean, she had these smile lines around her mouth that promised she’d make an amazingly hot senior citizen, the kind of gal you’d just pray would have her walker break down before siesta time, and you’d have to give her a ride home on your electric scooter. I couldn’t hate her if I tried.

Yes, she was that perfect

The Cauldron Presents: Waking Up Dead by Margo Bond Collins

Author’s Bio: Margo Bond Collins lives in Texas with her husband, their daughter, several spoiled cats, and a ridiculous turtle. She teaches college-level English courses online, though writing fiction is her first love. She enjoys reading urban fantasy and paranormal fiction of any genre and spends most of her free time daydreaming about vampires, ghosts, zombies, werewolves, and other monsters. Waking Up Dead is her first published novel. Her second novel, Legally Undead, is an urban fantasy, forthcoming in 2014 from World Weaver Press.

When Dallas resident Callie Taylor died young, she expected to go to Heaven, or maybe Hell. Instead, she met her fate early thanks to a creep with a knife and a mommy complex. Now she's witnessed another murder, and she's not about to let this one go. She's determined to help solve it before an innocent man goes to prison. And to answer the biggest question of all: why the hell did she wake up in Alabama?

Excerpt:

When I died, I expected to go to heaven.
Okay. Maybe hell. It’s not like I was perfect or anything. But I was sort of hoping for heaven.
Instead, I went to Alabama.
Yeah. I know. It’s weird.

I died in Dallas, my hometown. I was killed, actually. Murdered. I’ll spare you the gruesome details. I don’t like to remember them myself. Some jerk with a knife--and probably a Bad-Mommy complex. Believe me, if I knew where he was, I’d go haunt his ass.

At any rate, by the time death came, I was ready for it--ready to stop hurting, ready to let go. I didn’t even fight it.

And then I woke up dead in Alabama. Talk about pissed off.

You know, even reincarnation would have been fine with me--I could have started over, clean slate and all that. Human, cow, bug. Whatever. But no. I ended up haunting someplace I’d never even been.

That’s not the way it’s supposed to work, right? Ghosts are supposed to be the tortured spirits of those who cannot let go of their earthly existence. If they could be convinced to follow the light, they’d leave behind said earthly existence and quit scaring the bejesus out of the poor folks who run across them. That’s what all those “ghost hunter” shows on television tell us.

Let me tell you something. The living don’t know jack about the dead.

Not this dead chick, anyway.
